Unit 5-Subtle Mind Exercise
When asked to compare the Loving Kindness and Subtle Mind Exercise, I had no choice but to be totally honest! The Loving Kindness exercise allowed me to tap in to my most inner thoughts and feelings. I can honestly say that it became easier over time as I tried this technique a few times this week! On the other hand, I would have to try the Subtle Mind exercise at a later time because I did not enjoy the long delays between instructions. When asked to count 10 breaths at the beginning, it seemed as though I had counted 20 before I heard the voice again. This frustrated me and caused me to loose focus many times! Although the Loving Kindness was very emotional for me, I would have to choose it over the Subtle Mind exercise. The Subtle Mind was too relaxing, and I found myself drifting off and working harder to get back in tune with the execise. This exercise would benefit me more after a long day at work, because I often need assistance to help me relax after a long crazy day with high school students! I don't think this exercise is one that I would use often in my daily routine.

Keesha,
ReplyDeleteGood for you for trying the Loving Kindness exercise a few times (and getting something great out of it). I feel like the more we practice the better we become. There are times though that we cannont clear the chatter from our brain. When that happens to me I don't try fighting it, I try again the next day.
There is not other way to be but honest, no matter if it is to ourselves or others. As for your comments on the subtle mind exercise... I had to laugh. I didn't even finish my ten breaths before the narrator spoke again! LOL It's so intersting how two people can have totally deiiferent experiences. I am glad this class and the exercises are helping you build a better Keesha...good for you and keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteHey Keesha, I'm sorry it didn't work out as well for you. I have learned to do these at night after a long day. I once tried the first one in the morning and almost fell back asleep. I always find them beneficial. I love to feel less stressed. Good luck on the future ones.
ReplyDeleteKeesha,
ReplyDeleteWith all that is going on in your world right now, the loving kindness exercise does seem to be a good fit for you. I wouldn't give up entirely on the subtle mind exercise though. It may come in handy after a day with the "ice queen".
